10/31/2014

The Comprehensive Student Data Rosters is a student-level Excel spreadsheet containing as many as 100 data points for each pupil.  A school-wide CSDR is available for download for each of OUSD's 86 community schools.  An alternative collection of teacher-specific -- "only my students" -- CSDRs is also provided.  Please note that you must be signed into your OUSD Gmail in order to access the Protected Student Level Data folder. If you're having trouble viewing this folder, please contact Rattana Yeang for support.

The CSDR draws from separate data sources to bring together:
1. Demographics
2. Enrollment (current school and teacher(s), 2013-14 and 2014 summer school)
3.
English language fluency status (recently re-calculated on October 24)
4.
Assessment score series from OUSD Benchmark and California State standardized instruments
5. Engagement metrics (attendance and suspension data)

Fresh data points to the CSDR in the October 31 edition:
1. Fall SRI and mid-window F&P leveled reading scores
2. Current Pathway participation, plus PSAT scores from last year
3. Distance-from-School and "Live-Go" flags from geospatial analysis
Full list in the CSDR Guide

What additional resources are there?
1. Guide to data points
2. Videos on how to filter, sort, and print

What else should I know?
1. It will be refreshed again after every marking period for secondary schools
2. It will be refreshed again after every trimester for elementary schools

Need 1 on 1 support?
We can visit your site to give you a personal consultation on how to get the most out of your CSDR. To request a site visit, email us at data@ousd.k12.ca.us

College Enrollment reports are now available on the Data Team’s Google Drive. These reports show the percent of graduates enrolling in 2 or 4 year colleges within 16 months of graduation. Five years of data are included from 2008-09 through 2012-13. Due to the timing of the data collection, data for the 2012-13 graduates only includes enrollments within 8 months of graduation as opposed to 16 months for prior years. Reports are available in PDF format for individual schools and the district overall.

For questions about this report, please contact Kevin Schmidke.

We are pleased to introduce OUSD's new California Healthy Kids Survey interactive data website: https://chks.data.ousd.k12.ca.us, a joint project of the Community Schools & Student Services Department (CSSS) and Research, Assessment & Data (RAD).

The goal of the site is to make your school’s data easier to explore and use to guide your continuous improvement efforts. This beta version only includes student data from 2013-2014, but future iterations will include data from previous years as well as staff and parent data.

OUSD CHKS data from 2012-13 and earlier can be found on the OUSD CHKS website http://www.ousd.k12.ca.us/Page/268.

Please let us know how this site is working for you by emailing Joanna Locke or Rinat Fried.

AP Exam Performance reports are now available on the Data Team’s Google Drive and include the past 5 years of data through 2013-14. These reports show the percent of students in grades 10-12 who have participated in at least 1 AP exam and additionally how many of those students passed the exam with a score of 3 or higher. Passing the AP exam with a score of 3 or higher indicates that a student is “qualified” to receive college credit. Reports are available in PDF format for individual schools and the district overall. Reports were not produced for schools with low participation.

New Monthly Out of School Suspension Reports Now Available!

10/10/2014

The year's first Out-of-School Suspension reports cover the period through Sept. 30, 2014.  "Out-of-School Suspension Incidents" and "Students Receiving OSS Suspensions" PDF files are shared in the Districtwide - Suspension folder, for access by all OUSD Employees.  Supplemental materials are also shared there, in the "Suspension Report Companion Spreadsheets" Excel workbook.

37 schools recorded OSS incidents to Aeries using new discipline data entry guidelines aligned with usage of the Universal Discipline Referral Form.  Leadership for those sites can find an "OSS Suspended Students Roster" in their school's Protected Student Level Data folder.

The 2014-15 discipline data entry guidelines distinguish OSS from In-School (ISS) Suspensions.  As clarified in recent Professional Development sessions for school site leadership conducted by Theresa Clincy and Barb McClung, both kinds of suspension are denoted with an infraction code between 1 and 25.  Further, OSS incidents must include a 'SUSP' disposition code; ISS incidents must include one of the following disposition codes: 'SUSPIN', 'SUSPTI', or 'SUSPCL'.
