Newcomer Enrollment by District Entry Date - View the total number of Newcomer students by district entry date into OUSD.

​Newcomer Totals - View the total number of Newcomers by district, network, school or demographics.

​Newcomer Proportions - View percent of Newcomers proportional to total student counts by district, network, school or demographics.

View Newcomer Enrollment by District Entry Date!

Use this dashboard to view the total number of Newcomer students by entry date into Oakland Unified School District. For previous academic years, the total number of newcomers is based on end-of-year enrollment data. For the current academic year, the total number of newcomers is updated on a daily basis.

Note: A newcomer is a non-US born student who has been in the United states less than 3 years and speaks a language other than English at home. For grades TK-2, the number of years in the US is based on US entry date. For grades 3-12, the number of years is based on US school entry date.

UPDATED NEWCOMER EARLY WARNING DASHBOARD NOW AVAILABLE!

For OUSD staff: Newcomer Early Warning dashboard has been updated with End of Semester 1 data. Early Warning indicators are based on the following criteria:

- US school entry after age 16 - Calculations are based on comparing student birth dates and US school entry dates.
- Poor Attendance - Attendance rates less than 95%.
- Off-Track GPA - End of Semester 1 GPA less than 2.00.
- Off-Track Credits - Current calculations are based on comparing number of years as a Newcomer with total credits earned. Students that are Newcomers for over 3 years with less than 170 credits earned. Students that are Newcomers for 2-3 years with less than 110 credits earned. Students that are Newcomers for 1-2 years with less than 50 credits earned. Students that are Newcomers for less than 1 year are tagged with "Insufficient Data" when no credit data is available.

New Newcomer Demographic Reports Now Available!

Newcomer demographic reports are now available at the district level and for schools with high numbers of Newcomer students. A Newcomer is defined as a student who has been in the United States for less than one year. In this report, current 2014-15 demographic data includes students who have a US entry date between October 1, 2013 and October 1, 2014. October 1st, is also used as the cutoff date for 2012-13 and 2013-14 data.

Data on this report includes dis-aggregation by ethnicity, gender, birth country, home language, fluency status, time of arrival, and grade level.

This report was produced on February 17, 2015. Information is based on AERIES data as of February 13, 2014. Detailed student level data is available by request. For any comments or questions about this report, please contact Rattana Yeang.
