Updated Weekly Chronic Absence Reports Now Available!

4/6/2015

Weekly Chronic Absence reports have been updated and are now available for internal OUSD Staff. They include:

1. A list of schools and their chronic absence summations in Excel and PDF format. These files are located in our Internal Data Reports folder.
2. A student roster for each school and network of their chronically absent and at risk students. These files are located in the Protected Student Level Data section of each school folder.

These reports show the number and percent of currently enrolled students who are chronically absent (i.e. have an attendance rate of 90% or less) and are loaded every Monday on a weekly basis.

NEW: In the "OUSD Districtwide - Chronic Absence Weekly Summations" spreadsheet (located in the 00_OUSD Districtwide folder), a second tab has been added entitled “Trend Chart." This chart represents each week’s data point over time to give a visual of the school’s trend.  There is also a flat bar indicating the district target of 5% or less Chronic Absent.  A drop down list enables the user to select the district or a particular school.

For more questions, please contact Kevin Smith.

Updated Early Warning Reports Now Available!

Marking Period 3 (End of Semester 1) “Early Warning For Dropping Out” reports now available.

The Early Warning reports pinpoint grade 6-12 students who are at risk of dropping out.  Each Early Warning report assists school leaders in identifying “at risk” students for appropriate interventions aimed at keeping students in school and helping them to persist to graduation.

The reports are based on research found in "An Early Warning System" by Ruth Neild, Robert Balfanz, and Liza Herzog.  A secondary student is included in this list if their latest grade in English or Math was an F, their current attendance rate is 80% or less (Severe Chronic Absent), or they have more than one out-of-school suspension for the school year. The reports include ethnicity, gender, disability, home language, fluency and number of years in OUSD for English Learner students. Each secondary school’s report can be found in the “Protected Student Level Data” folder for each school folder on our Google Drive accessible HERE.

For questions about this report, please contact Kevin Smith.

New English Language Learner Snapshots now Available!

9/19/2014

Picture
English Language Learner Snapshots are now available in the Protected Student Level Data folder for secondary schools that expressed interest in participating in the snapshot pilot. Each student level report is based on data from our August version of the Comprehensive Student Level Data Roster and explains each step of the reclassification process for English Language Learners with additional information on where students are in satisfying each criteria.

Data points include CELDT performance levels, Lexile scores from the Scholastic Reading Inventory, whether or not a student has passed the English Language Arts section of the CAHSEE , and ELA course Grades. Also included are questions that allow students, parents, and teachers to set goals towards attaining reclassification.

For questions about this report, please contact Nicole Knight, Executive Director at the English Language Learner & Multilingual Achievement Office.

Physical Fitness Tests reportS Now Available!

The Physical Fitness Test results are now available for each school on the Data Team’s Google Drive. These PDF reports provide an overview of whether students are in the Healthy Fitness Zone (HFZ) in fitness tests related to abdominal strength, aerobic capacity, body composition, flexibility, strength and endurance, and trunk strength. The HFZ is the level of fitness associated with good health. A result of Needs Improvement indicates a potential for future health risks.

For more detailed student-level data, school leaders may refer to the Comprehensive Student Data Roster on the Data Team's Google Drive. PFT student spreadsheets are also available upon request. To learn more about the Physical Fitness Test, please visit the California Department of Education (CDE) webpage. For questions about this report, please contact Rattana Yeang.

CST/CMA Science Results Reports Now Available!

The CST/CMA Science assessment results reports are now available on the Data Team’s Google Drive. The reports compare 2013 and 2014 Grade 5 Science, Grade 8 Science, and Grade 10 Life Science results by school and for the district as a whole.

When comparing performance from last year to this year, keep in mind that OUSD’s science instruction is in the midst of shifting to the Next Generation Science Standards. Because the standards the CST/CMA Science assessment is based on are no longer in use, the District has deemphasized this test.

Reports are available in both Excel and PDF formats, and Student Rosters for each school’s test takers are also loaded to the schools’ Protected Student Level Data folders. For questions about this report, please contact Kevin Smith.
