For OUSD Staff: The main goal of the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is to help students in starting life-long habits of regular physical activity. Students in grades 5, 7, and 9 take the PFT which is made up of six different fitness areas (aerobic capacity, body composition, abdominal strength, trunk extensor strength, upper body strength, and flexibility). Each fitness area shows a level of fitness that offer a degree of defense against diseases that come from inactivity. These dashboards visualize the percent and number of students who are performing in the Healthy Fitness Zone (HFZ) on each fitness area of the Physical Fitness Test. HFZ is the desired performance standard for each fitness area test and represents the level of fitness associated with good health. Students not in the Healthy Fitness Zone increase their potential for future health risks.

Students not in the Healthy Fitness Zone increase their potential for future health risks. For questions about this dashboard, please contact Rattana Yeang at rattana[email protected]. The Physical Fitness Test results are now available for each school on the Data Team’s Google Drive. These PDF reports provide an overview of whether students are in the Healthy Fitness Zone (HFZ) in fitness tests related to abdominal strength, aerobic capacity, body composition, flexibility, strength and endurance, and trunk strength. The HFZ is the level of fitness associated with good health. A result of Needs Improvement indicates a potential for future health risks.
For more detailed student-level data, school leaders may refer to the Comprehensive Student Data Roster on the Data Team's Google Drive. PFT student spreadsheets are also available upon request. To learn more about the Physical Fitness Test, please visit the California Department of Education (CDE) webpage. For questions about this report, please contact Rattana Yeang. |
